COMPETITION FLOW

Athletes will be seeded into LANED RACES based on personal best or recent performances listed on TFRRS or World Athletics. Two Long Jump runways, two Shot Put rings and two High Jump pits will be utilized if field sizes are large. Each subsequent event will begin a minimum of 30 minutes after both flights have concluded competition. Two discus rings and two Pole Vault runways are available if the decathlon field requires it. One Javelin runway will be utilized on day two of the decathlon and heptathlon and broken into two flights if necessary. Multiple sections of the 800 meters will be run in the heptathlon 800.

COMPETITION REGISTRATION

Registration will take place on Direct Athletics and will be open on Wednesday, February 14th. Registration will close on Friday, March 15th.

COMPETITION ENTRY FEES
Entry fees will be due prior to the start of competition. Entry fees will not be paid through

Direct Athletics, and can be made on site at Westmont. Please make entry fee checks out to Santa Barbara Track Club. Entries are $125 per athlete. Full entry fee is due prior to the start of the competition, and may be made beginning on Tuesday, March 19th and going through Thursday March 21, before the first event. All athletes will receive a competition meet shirt.

COMPETITION IMPLEMENTS & CERTIFICATION

A limited number of throwing implements will be provided. Athletes are welcome to use implements on site, but are encouraged to bring their own. Decathletes not traveling with pole vault poles are also encouraged to make arrangements ahead of time. Implement certification will take place on DAY ONE for both days of competition. Coaches and athletes can drop implements off beginning Tuesday, March 21st. Please clearly mark your implements. Implement certification will take place from 8:00am - 11:00am on Thursday March 23rd.

SELECT EVENT ATHLETES:

A limited number of Elite Athletes will be allowed to compete in “Select Events” during the competition. To maintain the integrity of the meet there will be a very limited number of “Select” athletes permitted at the discretion of meet management. Any athlete interested must contact Derek Masterson / dmasterson@wetmont.edu ahead of time.

HOTEL INFORMATION

The suggested Klein / Nwaba Meet Hotel is the Best Western, located in Carpinteria, CA. Carpinteria is approximately 10 miles south of Westmont’s campus. There are a number of dining options near the hotel located on Linden Avenue in downtown Carpinteria.

Adams–Klein Combined Events (POSTPONED)

The 2020 Adams–Klen Combined Events Invitation has been postponed until further notice due to COVID-19. We encourage everyone to stay safe and follow public health recommendations to stay healthy, especially washing your hands. Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to hosting events again to bring the community together.

In 2020, the Santa Barbara Track Club in partnership with Westmont College is combining the Sam Adams Invite with the Jim Klein invitational.

Welcome to the Adam–Klein Combined Events Invitational held on Thursday, March 29 & Friday, March 20. Athletes & Coaches, please email Josh Priester at josh@santabarbaratc.com with your interest and questions.

GENERAL INFORMATION

COMPETITION REGISTRATION
Registration will take place on DirectAthletics.com and will be open on February 17, 2020.

COMPETITION ENTRY FEES
Entry fees will be due prior to the start of the competition. Entry fees will not be paid through Direct Athletics, and can be made on-site at Westmont. Please make entry fee checks out to Santa Barbara Track Club. Entries are $75 per athlete. All athletes will receive a meet T-Shirt.

SELECT EVENT ATHLETES
A limited number of elite athletes will be allowed to participate in “Select Events” throughout the meet. These competitors will be very limited to maintain the quality of the competition. The number of athletes allowed to compete in such events will be at the discretion of meet management. Please contact Josh Priester ahead of time for more information.

FACILITIES
The Westmont Track and Thorrington Field will be open for practice the following times during the week leading up to the meet:

  • Monday - Wednesday from 9am to 2pm

  • Thursday 9am to 7pm

WESTMONT CAMPUS AND DINING COMMONS
Coaches and athletes are welcome to utilize the campus dining commons for breakfast, lunch or dinner during the competition week. A discounted meal rate is available for you on campus. For information regarding athlete access to the pool, weight room or other facilities, please contact Josh Priester.

ATHLETE CHECK-IN
Athletes will check-in and pick up bibs at the check-in tent upon arrival on March 19.

ATHLETIC TRAINING
Athletic trainers can check-in the day of the meet. Water, biohazard kits, first aid supplies, emergency equipment and treatment ice with bags will be available. Athletes and teams are advised to travel with your own tape and any other special supplies needed.

RESULTS
Live and Final results will be available at: www.santabarbaratc.com. Coaches, team managers and athletes are responsible for reviewing final results for accuracy. If an anomaly or error is suspected, it should be brought to the Meet Director or timing tent for review and possible correction, prior to leaving the meet.

SBTC Youth TC Open House

Join the SBTC for an open house to kick-off the 2020 Youth Winter/Spring season! The open house is free for any families with kids ages 7-14 to attend and is on Monday, February 10 at Westmont College from 5:00pm to 6:00pm.

We will welcome and introduce the coaches, take questions and then conduct a light practice. No registration is necessary.

Lindon Victor and Kurt Felix Compete at Pan American Games
Shortly after the SBTC wraps up the USA Championships, it will head to Lima, Peru for the Pan American Games. Fellow Grenadians and brothers, Lindon Victor and Kurt Felix will compete in the Decathlon beginning on Tuesday, August 6 at 12:00pm PT with the 100m dash and conclude on Wednesday, August 7 with the 1500m run at 5:25pm PT.

Hope Bender & Juanita Webster-Freeman Set to Compete at USA Championships this Weekend!
Two SBTC women head to Des Moines, IA for the USA Track & Field Outdoor National Championships this weekend. Hope Bender qualified in the Heptathlon while Juanita Webster-Freeman qualified in the High Jump. The four-day USA Championships begin today and we've provided your SBTC viewing schedule below for quick reference:

Hope Bender
Day 1 of the Heptathlon begins on Saturday with the 100m Hurdles at 9:30am PT. The seventh and final event, the 800m, will be on Sunday at 3:42pm PT. Bender is ranked 12th with a qualifying mark of 5,955pts.

Juanita Webster-Freeman
The Women's High Jump will be a finals only event and takes place on Saturday at 12:40pm PT. Webster-Freeman is ranked 14th with a qualifying mark of 1.82m / 5'11.5"

Streaming / Television Schedule
NBC Sports Gold will stream all the events with a paid subscription ($59.99).

Thoreson 30 Minute Decathlon & Youth Triple

Join us for this special event honoring the late David Thoreson at Westmont College. Beginning at 10:00am at Westmont’s Thorrington Field, a couple of brave Decathletes will attempt the 10-event, 30 minute challenge created by Thoreson in the 1970s. At 10:45am the SBTC will also host a 30 minute, three event challenge for youth.
